You can do these sitting to minimize the momentum when bringing the Dumbbells up. Alternating, slowly, without swinging the dumbbell bring the arm up (keep it straight, no bend in the elbow) and align it with your shoulder, then do a slight twist so the thumb is almost facing down. Twist the dumbbell back, so the thumb is facing up and lower the arm down to a relaxed hanging position.
